The NEA works with global experts to study the costs related to nuclear energy generation, covering the entire nuclear fuel cycle from exploration of uranium resources to the costs of decommissioning, including the construction of nuclear power plants, their operation and maintenance as well as waste management.

NEA work on this topic

The NEA Committee for Technical and Economic Studies on Nuclear Energy Development and the Fuel Cycle (NDC) works in this area to advise decision makers and policy makers on the economics of nuclear energy and its entire fuel cycle.

The Working Party on Nuclear Energy Economics (WPNE), whose general objective is to collect and compile information and conduct analyses and assessments on all economic aspects of nuclear energy, was formed in 2007 under the oversight of the  Committee for Technical and Economic Studies on Nuclear Energy Development and the Fuel Cycle (NDC).
