Seismic hazards remain an important factor that nuclear power plant designers and operators worldwide must take into account. Therefore, the Working Group on the Integrity and Ageing of Components and Structures (WGIAGE) under the auspices of the Nuclear Energy Agency (NEA) Committee on the Safety of Nuclear Installations (CSNI) established the activity on probabilistic seismic hazard analysis (PSHA).

This is a summary report from the WGIAGE comparison study between results from probabilistic seismic hazard analysis (PSHA) studies performed in regions of high seismicity and those from PSHA performed in regions of moderate or low seismicity, or “CompPSHA”. Since there is no generally accepted consensus on what constitutes low, moderate and high seismic areas, these concepts are used in a generic way in this report.
