The NEA and the United Kingdom Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA) co-organised an international workshop on 16 September 2020 on the decommissioning of nuclear facilities, with a special focus on concerns relating to stakeholder confidence.
Participants included experts from UK government bodies such as the Office for Nuclear Regulation (ONR), the Environment Agency and the NDA. The workshop also welcomed stakeholders from various civil society organisations, including the Nuclear Non-Governmental Organisation Forum of the Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy (BEIS), UK Site Stakeholder Group National Forum, Nuclear Legacy Advisory Forum (NuLeAF) and the Nuclear Free Local Authorities (NFLA).
Supported by members of the NEA Forum on Stakeholder Confidence (FSC) and the NEA Committee on Decommissioning of Nuclear Installations and Legacy Management (CDLM), the event facilitated an international exchange of experiences on the decommissioning of nuclear facilities. Participants had an open, respectful and constructive dialogue and discussed ideas for potential future collaboration.
We’re delighted to be joining other regulators, NGOs and community reps at today’s NEA stakeholder confidence workshop.
