Mandate:
The Data Bank acts as an international centre of reference for participating countries with respect to basic nuclear tools, such as computer codes and nuclear data, for the analysis and prediction of phenomena in the nuclear field. It offers a direct service to its users by providing the means to develop, improve and validate these tools and make them available upon request.
The Data Bank will continue to adapt its programme of work in response to changing technical developments, in particular to the needs arising from the broadening application of large-scale modelling and computation capabilities.
By gathering representatives from Data Bank participating countries, the MBDAV shall steer the activities of the Data Bank by establishing a work programme and endorsing related budgets. The MBDAV reports to the Steering Committee for Nuclear Energy.

To fulfil its mandate, the MBDAV will interact with NEA standing technical committees and other internal bodies on matters of common interest, as well as other international organisations (International Atomic Energy Agency, etc.) as appropriate.
